Nurturing Young Artists: Children’s Art Workshops & Competitions at HC Rai Centenary ArtsFest

Abhivyakti, in collaboration with the Department of Language and Culture, Himachal Pradesh, is set to host an exciting event as part of the HC Rai Centenary ArtsFest, a five-day celebration from 18 to 22, October 2023. This event, dedicated to the memory of the late Sh HC Rai, aims to inspire and nurture young artists across Himachal Pradesh, celebrating the rich artistic legacy of Rai. He is a luminary in the world of art and culture, and was honoured with the prestigious Sardar Sobha Singh Lifetime Achievement Award by the H.P. Government. His contributions as the Founder Principal of RKMV College, Shimla, and H.P. Govt. College of Arts, Shimla, continue to inspire generations of artists in the region.

Honouring the memory of her father, Amala Rai has curated a creative extravaganza for young minds by scheduling a Children’s Art Workshops & Competitions, on October 19, 2023, from 10 am to 1 pm at the Gaiety Theatre (Lalit Kala Exhibition Hall & Rehearsal Hall). A day filled with artistic exploration and expression. The event is divided into two segments: the morning workshop from 10 am to 12 noon, followed by the competition from 12 noon to 1 pm.

Participants will be grouped into two categories: Junior (Classes 3 to 6) and Senior (Classes 7 to 10). Each school can send two participants. The medium for this creative endeavour is poster colours and crayons.

Important Information for Participants

Participants are required to bring their own colours, brushes and a water bowl. However, art paper will be provided.

• Remember to carry your water bottles to stay refreshed throughout the event.
• Light refreshments after the competition will be provided.
• Each school group must be accompanied by at least one school teacher.
• As seats are limited, schools are encouraged to share participant details via email at the earliest.
