No One Was Prevented From Erecting Temporary Shelters During Religious Journeys: Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu

1 min read

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has stated that no one was prevented from erecting temporary shelters during religious journeys in the state. Whether it’s the Manimahesh Yatra or any other pilgrimage, temporary shelters are constructed. It is not considered whether someone is affiliated with the Congress or the BJP. If there are any allegations of hindrance, they should be investigated. The government has no intention of removing or destroying anything.

During a legislative session, BJP MLA Lokendra Kumar questioned if any orders have been issued to take action against illegal and permanent constructions in Jalori Pass.

In response, Chief Minister Sukhu remarked that the biggest inconvenience due to the change in the administrative regime in the past ten years has been faced by the BJP. He noted that members are asking one thing and saying another in the assembly. Sukhu emphasized that it does not matter if someone is a first-time legislator or has been elected multiple times; each legislator holds the same position.

The exchange continued, with opposition leader Jai Ram Thakur objecting to Sukhu referring to Lokendra Kumar as a first-time legislator. He stated that such statements were against the dignity of the assembly.

Sukhu explained that he meant that Lokendra Kumar was new to the position of legislator and was enthusiastic. He noted that being a Chief Minister is a new experience, which leads to changes in administration.
