Network Coordinator Visits Pesticide Residue Laboratory, UHF Nauni
2 min readDr. KK Sharma, Network Coordinator of All India Network Project on Pesticide Residues (AINP on PR) and Member Secretary of Monitoring of Pesticide Residues at National Level (MPRNL) visited the Pesticide Residue Laboratory (PRL), Solan functioning at Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni. He visited the lab to order to inspect the progress of the projects.
Dr. JK Dubey, SWO-cum-Principal investigator of the projects running at the lab and Dr. Raj Kumar Thakur, Professor and Head Department of Entomology discussed the future scope for expansion of residue analysis resources in the department. They were accompanied by Dr. Sapna Katna and Dr. Ajay Sharma. The scientists apprised him about the work being carried out.
The PRL lab of the university is a state-of-the-art laboratory in the Department of Entomology and is engaged in the detection of pesticide residues in different food products. This laboratory is equipped with all sophisticated and technologically advanced instruments required for reliable pesticide residue analysis. There are two national-level projects-AINP on PR funded by ICAR and another funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Family Welfare which are operational in the laboratory.
Dr. KK Sharma inspected the laboratory management system and expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the laboratory. The lab has also purchased two sophisticated instruments CMSMS purchased by the Laboratory at a total cost Rs. 1.42 crores and successful installation of and GCMSMS provided under MPRNL to the laboratory. He congratulated the laboratory staff for attaining the accreditation with National Accreditation Board for testing and calibration Laboratories (NABL) ISO: 17025-2017. He also appreciated the efforts of Dr. JK Dubey, who is the Quality Manager of the scheme, and all the scientists and staff engaged in the projects and assured to extend necessary help required by the laboratory for further expanding its scope of work.
