NCC’s Role in instilling Discipline, Confidence lauded

Professor Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Vice Chancellor of Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni commended the National Cadet Corps (NCC) for its significant contribution to fostering discipline, core values, and confidence among its cadets.
Addressing the cadets during the 10-day Annual Training Camp (ATC 197), organized by the 1 HP Girls Battalion NCC Solan at the university campus, Professor Chandel highlighted the importance of the NCC’s role in personal development. The camp saw participation from 684 cadets, representing both senior and junior divisions from various universities, 11 colleges, and nine schools.
The camp, aimed at the comprehensive development of NCC cadets, was conducted under the supervision of Col. Sanjay Shandil, Commanding Officer of 1 HP Girls Battalion NCC Solan, along with his team of Army and civilian staff, NCC officers, and teachers from various institutions. The cadets engaged in a range of activities including physical and weapon training, drills, cultural and skill development activities, motivational lectures, disaster and health management sessions, social responsibility initiatives and various sports events.
Col. Sanjay Shandil extended a warm welcome to Chief Guest Professor Chandel and Dean of Students Welfare, Dr. KK Raina. Col. Shandil, an alumnus of the university himself, expressed gratitude to the university for hosting the annual training camps.
In his address to the cadets, Professor Chandel praised the discipline and command displayed during the drills and applauded the efforts of the Girls Battalion team. He encouraged the cadets to integrate the lessons and discipline learned from the camp into their daily lives. Emphasizing the importance of good citizenship, he urged the cadets to perform their duties as responsible citizens and to use technology efficiently while reducing mobile screen time.
Professor Chandel also stressed the significance of learning life skills, advising the participants not to confine themselves to formal education but to discover their own passions. He encouraged cadets to persevere beyond a single day’s success or failure, citing examples of successful women leaders from various fields as inspiration. He motivated the students to learn from these role models and carve out their own paths to success.
