Una, July 17 – Himachal Pradesh’s vision for promoting chemical-free, eco-friendly agriculture is taking firm root in Una district, where over 16,858 farmers have embraced *Prakritik Kheti* (natural farming). With the government’s proactive policies, including assured Minimum Support Price (MSP) and transport subsidies, farmers are witnessing lower input costs and increased income, creating a sustainable agricultural ecosystem.
Under the initiative, farmers received ₹60 per kg MSP for natural wheat and ₹40 for maize, along with ₹2 per kg transportation support. Additionally, the government has launched the “Him Bhog” brand, bringing naturally grown maize flour to the public via fair price shops.
The ATMA Project Director, Virender Bagga, reported the sale of 41.66 metric tonnes of natural wheat by 39 farmers and 11.15 metric tonnes of natural maize by 15 farmers in Una. Payments were credited directly to farmers’ accounts, totaling over ₹29 lakh.
Natural farming is now practiced on 2,092 hectares in the district. Farmers receive technical training, and support such as indigenous cow subsidies (up to ₹25,000), drums, cycle hoes, and cattle flooring construction aid. These measures ensure zero-cost farming and improved soil health.
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal appealed to more farmers to adopt this method, citing its environmental, health, and economic benefits. With ongoing training and field-level inspections, the administration ensures continuous support for farmers ready to switch to a more sustainable future.
