National Tuberculosis Eradication Program to Begin in Shimla on December 7*

Shimla, December 3, 2024:
The National Tuberculosis Eradication Program (NTEP) will commence in Shimla district on December 7, 2024, and will continue until March 17, 2025. Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, while chairing a meeting of the District TB Forum, District TB Co-morbidity Committee, and District TB Eradication Committee, emphasized the importance of public participation to make Shimla TB-free.
Key Highlights of the Campaign:
– Organizing Nikshay camps at district, block, and panchayat levels.
– Deployment of Nikshay vehicles for screening and awareness, reaching rural areas.
– Administration of Nikshay oath in government departments and active involvement of youth.
– Provision of essential resources like X-ray machines and vehicles to cover the target population.
– Collaboration with media and elected representatives to enhance public engagement.
A total of 1.15 lakh individuals in high-risk categories have been mapped for the campaign. Deputy Commissioner Kashyap called for cooperation from various departments to ensure the success of the program.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Verma, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rakesh Pratap, District Program Officer Mamta Paul, District TB Officer Dr. Vineet Kumar, and officials from WHO, NGOs, and other departments were present at the meeting.
