Multi-sectoral TB Elimination Review Meeting Held in Kangra

Dharamshala, August 1, 2025: A multi-sectoral review meeting under the TB Mukt Abhiyan was held in Kangra under the chairmanship of DC Hemraj Bairwa. The meeting focused on strengthening TB elimination strategies and assessing current progress.

Dr. Rajesh Sood, Medical Officer, briefed on key interventions such as high-risk population screening, AI-enabled portable X-ray usage, and CBNAAT testing. He highlighted that 89% of TB patients in the district are now covered under the Differentiated TB Care Model.

DC Bairwa emphasized community involvement, nutritional and psychological support under Nikshay Mitra Yojana, and expansion of TB Preventive Treatment (TPT). Out of 3.4 lakh population, 1.1 lakh have already been screened, and 90% of eligible TB patients have received nutrition kits.

Efforts are underway to scale up infrastructure with 6 new X-ray sites, 5 NAAT machines from temple trusts, and 2 handheld X-ray machines from the administration. Notably, in 2023, 211 TB-related deaths were recorded, prompting directives for detailed mortality audits.
