Inaugurates New Trade Association Office in Kacchi Ghati

Shimla, 25 May 2025 – Himachal Pradesh PWD and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Sunday inaugurated the newly constructed office of the Trade Association at Ghoda Chowki, Kacchi Ghati, built by the Shimla Municipal Corporation.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister emphasized the vital role trade associations play in the development of Shimla and in providing better facilities to the public through self-employment initiatives. He said the new office will help streamline the functioning of the association and will operate from a municipal building.

He assured the gathering that the long-standing demand of the area’s traders for a dedicated motor market is being addressed. A site has been finalized at Malyana, and the land has already been transferred to the Transport Department. The location will be inspected soon, and the matter will be placed before the Chief Minister to expedite further action. Shifting the motor market is expected to significantly ease the city’s traffic congestion, he said.

The minister also instructed officials to identify land for parking in Kacchi Ghati, promising budget allocation once a site is finalized.

He further informed that the city’s 24×7 high-pressure drinking water supply scheme is in its final stage and will benefit thousands of residents, including those in the Kacchi Ghati area.

Trade Association President Malkiyat Singh felicitated the minister with a shawl, cap, and memento. The event was attended by Commissioner Bhupinder Kumar Atri, Joint Commissioner Dr. Bhuvan Sharma, Councillors Kiran Sharma and Dilip Thapa, nominated members, and various trade leaders.
