Former Union Minister and Member of Parliament from Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency, Anurag Singh Thakur has welcomed the decision of the caste census by the Modi government as an unprecedented step towards social justice.
Anurag Singh Thakur said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a historic decision related to social justice has been taken in the CCPA meeting, which is an unprecedented step towards ensuring fair representation of all sections and their rights. The government has given a strong message of commitment towards the welfare of all by including caste census in the upcoming census. Many opposition parties, including the Congress, stopped the caste census when they were in power and continued to do vote bank politics on the rights of the entire society. 2686 castes will benefit from this census. The purpose of the census is to bring about social equality. In every society, some person is poor and such a society and poor people will get the benefit of the data coming in front of the government. This decision will empower all economically and socially backward classes, promote inclusion, and pave new avenues of progress for the underprivileged. Caste enumeration will be included in the upcoming census in a “transparent” manner. I thank the central government and the honourable Prime Minister for this historic decision related to the rights of the backward society.
