Demands ₹10,000 Cr Relief from Centre
Shimla, Jan 31: MLA Sanjay Awasthi has strongly criticized Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, urging him to stop making baseless allegations against the state government and instead demand financial assistance for Himachal Pradesh in the upcoming Union Budget. He accused Thakur of misleading the public for media attention rather than working for the state’s welfare.
Awasthi highlighted that ₹10,000 crore in disaster relief from 2023 and ₹9,000 crore in employees’ NPS funds remain stuck with the Central Government. He called on Jai Ram Thakur to press the BJP-led Union Government for these pending funds instead of obstructing financial aid.
Further, he blamed the previous BJP government for reckless spending, leaving behind ₹75,000 crore in debt and ₹10,000 crore in employee liabilities, forcing the current administration to take loans for repayments. He slammed BJP’s ‘double engine’ narrative, stating that it only worsened the state’s financial distress.
Awasthi praised CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s leadership, citing efforts to boost revenue and implement welfare schemes. He accused BJP leaders of spreading falsehoods out of frustration over the government’s rising popularity and urged them to support state development instead of playing destructive politics.
