MLA Kewal Singh Pathania assumes role as Deputy Chief Whip

Shahpur MLA Kewal Singh Pathania assumes charge of Deputy Chief Whip here today. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of the state and strengthening the party and its objectives. He said that he will work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve the goals of party and contribute to the overall development of the state.

He expressed gratitude to Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for their support.

Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Chandra Kumar, Ayush Youth Services and Sports Minister Yadavendr Goma and MLA Nahan Ajay Solanki along with Party workers and supporters from across the state congratulated him on assuming the charge and extended their best wishes for the fruitful tenure.

Kewal Singh Pathania’s Political Life

Sh. Pathania has been active in politics since 1987, starting his career in the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and worked in various positions in the State Congress Committee. He participated in the Dandi Yatra in 2008 and received the Best Youth Award from the Ministry of Youth Services and Sports in 2009.

Kewal Singh Pathania studied Political Science and Law at Himachal Pradesh University. During his student years, he was the Campus President of Government Post Graduate College, Dharamshala from 1987 to 1991. He has held various important positions in the Congress government, including being a member of the Board of Directors of Himuda during Virbhadra Singh’s administration.

From 2012 to 2017, Sh. Pathania was a member of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation. In 2012, he also served as the Vice Chairman of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation. Additionally, he worked for NSUI and the Congress Party in states like Punjab, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Goa.

He has a strong interest in sports. He was the captain of the state hockey team and represented Himachal Pradesh at the national level five times.
