Mission LiFE Awareness Activities in Kangra District
2 min readShimla, November 10 : Under the Mission LiFE initiative launched by the Prime Minister, WWF EIACP PC-RP, in collaboration with HIMCOSTE EIACP PC Hub and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), conducted impactful awareness activities from November 8th to 11th, 2023.
The activities aimed at bringing about behavioral changes in individuals through simple, sustainable actions. Educational institutions, including Govt Degree College Baroh and Govt. Secondary Schools in various locations, actively participated. Panchayats of Balol, Sunhi, Saroti, Baroh, Aerla, and Kandidholran were also involved.
On November 9th, 2023, awareness activities extended to Govt. Senior Secondary Schools, boys & girls, at Nagorta Bagwan, Hatwas, Greenfield Nagrota Bagwan, Madan Mohan Malviya Nagrota, Himalayan Public School Nagorta, and Rainbow International School. The following day, activities were conducted at the Dept. of Technical Education Vocational & Industrial Training, Baroh, and Govt Degree College Nagrota Bagwan.
The sessions provided an overview of EIACP and Mission LiFE, emphasizing the importance of adopting an eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyle. Videos on Mission LiFE and EIACP documentary were screened, and a quiz engaged students, teachers, and dignitaries. The event also addressed the concept of Green Diwali, with students participating in a rangoli-making competition.
Tourist destinations, including Kangra fort, Chamunda temple, Brijeshwari temple, and Jawalji temple, were covered to brief people about the importance of Mission LiFE and its themes. The enthusiasm displayed by approximately 10,000+ participants highlighted the success of the initiative, marking the first time such an event took place in Kangra district. The collaborative effort between WWF EIACP PC-RP, New Delhi, and HIMCOSTE EIACP PC Hub, Shimla, showcased the commitment to promoting sustainable practices and environmental awareness.
