Minorities need not fear : Iqbal Singh Lalpura
2 min readShimla, Mar 22 – Chairman of National Minority commission, Iqbal Singh Lalpura on Wednesday said in Hamirpur that there should not be any sense of fear among the minority community and they should not feel that there is no one to listen to them.
He said this during a meeting in Hamirpur in which senior district officers were present.
The chairman of the commission said Indian democracy is the strongest and most successful. The biggest proof of this is the sharp increase in the number of people belonging to the minority community here after independence.
He exhorted the district officials that various schemes being run for the upliftment and welfare of minority sections should be widely publicised, so that more and more eligible people of these sections could take advantage of the schemes.
The chairman said the government schemes could also be propagated through the representatives of religious institutions belonging to the minorities. “These institutions can play an important role in maintaining mutual harmony in the society and in including the minorities in the mainstream. For this, committees should be formed at district and sub-divisional level and their meetings should be held regularly”.
The chairman of the commission said Himachal Pradesh has immense potential for the production of rare herbs and tourism. Effective steps should be taken in this direction as well. He said that apart from natural beauty, tourism can also be promoted through the rich culture and glorious history of Himachal.
On this occasion, ADC Jitendra Sanjata welcomed the Chairman of the Minorities Commission and gave detailed information regarding the implementation of the 15-point program in the district and assured to ensure compliance of all the guidelines given by the Chairman in letter and spirit.
