Migrant Workers Directed to Verify Documents at Nearby Police Stations in Shimla

Shimla, Feb 02, 2026 : Anupam Kashyap has made registration mandatory for migrant labourers, street vendors, hawkers, and other outside workers temporarily residing in Shimla to prevent crimes and maintain law and order. Employers, contractors, traders, and landlords have been instructed to ensure proper registration, identity verification, and antecedent checks of workers and tenants at the nearest police station before engagement or renting out property. The orders, issued under relevant legal provisions, will remain in force until March 31, 2026, and violations may attract legal action against workers, employers, and property owners.
