Meeting Held in Shimla for Effective Implementation of Forest Rights Act, 2006

Shimla, August 2, 2025 – A crucial meeting on the effective implementation of the Forest Rights Act, 2006 was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap at the DC Office, Shimla. The meeting focused on reviewing departmental coordination and implementation processes to ensure rightful claims of Scheduled Tribes, forest dwellers, and other traditional forest-dependent communities.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized transparency in claim verification, the role of Gram Sabhas, and record authentication. Detailed discussions were held on the functioning of Forest Rights Committees (FRCs) and their pivotal role in recognizing and implementing the rights of forest-dependent communities.

Officials from various departments presented updates on the current status, challenges, and action plans regarding the Act’s implementation. Special directives were issued for inter-departmental coordination and village-level awareness campaigns.
