MCC rested in HP & Gujarat: ECI

Shimla, Dec 10 – After successful Assembly elections in Himachal and Gujarat, the Election Commission of India lifted the model code of conduct with immediate effect, Chief Electoral Officer Manish Garg said in a letter forwarded to Chief Secretary of both poll-bound states, Members of Parliament and Assembly other Secretaries & Head of Department and semi-government organization including others informing them about the decision.

He said a letter was received from ECI on December 9 in which an announcement of the election was issued by it on October 14, 2022. Since the results of all Vidhan Sabha seats are already announced on December 8 by all the returning officers therefore the operation of MCC also ceased to operate in both the state with immediate effect.
