Massive Turnout at Rahul Gandhi’s Rally: Sanjay Awasthi
2 min readShimla, May 26, 2024 – The overwhelming turnout at Rahul Gandhi’s rallies in Nahan and Una clearly indicates that the India Alliance is set to form the government at the center with a strong majority, according to Congress leader Sanjay Awasthi. The immense crowd at these events highlights the growing popularity of Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party, boosted by the promises outlined in their “Nyay Patra” (Justice Manifesto).
Awasthi emphasized that the enthusiastic reception at the rallies, despite the scorching heat, is a testament to the effective governance under Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. He stated that the manifesto’s guarantees, such as providing a monthly allowance of Rs 8500 to millions of women and offering stipends to unemployed graduates, have resonated with the public, creating a strong wave of support for the Congress.
He highlighted the achievements of the Sukhu government over the past 15 months, which include the implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for 1.36 lakh employees, financial support to women, assistance to widows’ children, support for orphans, increased prices for milk and fruits, and the universal carton policy for apple purchases. Awasthi assured that in the coming four years, more guarantees will be fulfilled, making the state prosperous and developed.
Awasthi expressed confidence that the Congress candidates will win all four seats in the state by a significant margin. He predicted the defeat of BJP candidates Agniveer Suresh Kashyap from Shimla and Agniveer Anurag Thakur from Una, suggesting that voters have decided to retire these politicians. He also forecasted a poor showing for the six defectors who left Congress for BJP, expecting their deposits to be forfeited.
Looking ahead, Awasthi announced that Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi will campaign in various parts of Himachal Pradesh. On Monday, she will address a massive rally in Chamba, followed by another in Chambi Shahpur, Kangra. On May 28, she will hold roadshows in Gagret, Kutlehar, and Barsar, and spend the night in Shimla. On May 29, she will head to Kullu for a large rally and later address another rally in Mandi.
This intense campaign schedule underscores the commitment of the Congress leadership to secure a decisive victory in the state and at the national level. The rallies and public engagements are expected to further galvanize support for the party and its candidates, paving the way for a strong performance in the upcoming elections.
