Shimla, Sept 2 – A massive landslide near Sanwara on National Highway-5 has brought traffic to a standstill, leaving long queues of vehicles stranded on both sides. The debris has completely blocked the highway, while the landslide has also posed a threat to the Kasauli Road passing just above the site.
Authorities have shut down the hill lane between Datyar and Dharampur, diverting vehicles to alternative routes. One-way traffic has been enforced at Chakki Mor to regulate movement. Reports also indicate debris falling at several points between Parwanoo and Kaithlighat, causing major traffic jams and delays.
The administration has assured that clearance work will begin soon, but travelers and locals have been advised to remain cautious as the risk of landslides remains high during the rainy season.
