1 min read

Mandi, Feb 13: In a bid to channel the energy of youth in a positive direction, the Mandi district administration has launched the ‘Apna Pustakalaya’ initiative, setting up libraries at sub-division levels. To support this effort, a book collection drive has been initiated, encouraging senior citizens, intellectuals, and employed youth to donate books for competitive exams.

Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan urged individuals who no longer need their exam preparation books to donate them at the nearest library, SDM office, or DC office, either in person or by post. A dedicated stall will also be set up at the International Shivratri Fair and other district fairs to collect books.

Currently, libraries at district and sub-division headquarters are benefiting thousands of students preparing for NEET, JEE, NDA, HAS, and other exams. The initiative ensures that unused books find their way to deserving students. Efforts are underway to improve libraries in Mandi Mini Secretariat, Sarkaghat, Karsog, Nerchowk, Sundernagar, and other sub-divisions.

DC Devgan emphasized that reading must be encouraged to help youth stay away from drug abuse and engage in intellectual growth. The administration invites book donations via SDM offices or courier services to strengthen this noble cause.
