Manali’s Sumit Thakur to Receive National Youth Award at New Parliament

Kullu, March 7, 2025 – Sumit Thakur from Shuru village, Manali, Himachal Pradesh, has been selected for the prestigious National Youth Award by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. He will receive the award at the National Youth Parliament 2025 in India’s new Parliament building.

Sumit, co-founder of YouVAH – Youth for Voluntary Action, has been a dedicated social worker since the age of 15. His contributions include blood donation, environmental conservation, COVID-19 relief work, and disaster assistance. He previously received the NSS National Award in 2020 from then-President Ram Nath Kovind.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, he led the Mission Digital Corona Awareness campaign, distributing essential supplies. He also initiated tree-planting programs and actively promotes blood and organ donation awareness.

Sumit’s selection is a moment of pride for Himachal Pradesh. Leaders like Jairam Thakur, Kangana Ranaut, Dr. Rajeev Bhardwaj, and Govind Thakur have congratulated him on social media.
