Major Traffic Disruption on Solan-Sanoura-Neripul Chhaila Route due to Landslide
2 min readNahan, August 27: The Solan-Sanoura-Neripul Chhaila route in the Rajgarh sub-division faced a 10-hour closure due to a significant landslide near Sanoura. Late at night, a truck was caught in the debris, resulting in a traffic jam along the route. The jam led to the entrapment of vehicles carrying apples, vegetables, trucks, and trailers throughout the night.
Aggrieved drivers expressed strong resentment towards the Department of Public Works and the government. Allegedly, despite notifying the Rajgarh administration, Pachhad MLA Reena Kashyap, and the Minister of Public Works, Vikramaditya Singh, about the road closure at 1:00 AM, the road remained blocked for more than 10 hours.
It is worth mentioning that the Solan-Sanoura-Neripul Chhaila route is currently experiencing heavy traffic, with approximately 90% of vehicles being laden with apples from abundant orchards in the region. Trucks loaded with apples bound for Chandigarh and Delhi in neighboring states use this route. The road closure trapped not only local residents but also several patients who were in transit. According to information, a truck (HP63F-8009) transporting ration from Solan to Kotkhai met with a landslide around 12:30 AM, causing the vehicle to overturn. Consequently, a traffic jam of about 5 kilometers formed on both sides of Sanoura.
On the other hand, Ram Singh, the supervising engineer of the Public Works Department in Rajgarh, explained that it took 10 hours to clear the road and restore traffic flow following the landslide and truck overturning incident in Sanoura. He further mentioned that traffic movement is now gradually returning to normalcy, with vehicles moving along the route without major disruptions.
