1 min read

Shimla, Mar 09: Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, accompanied by BJP legislator Sukhram Chaudhary, participated in a multi-party meeting called by the Speaker of the Assembly. Addressing the media after the meeting, Thakur expressed that the discussions were conducted in a cordial manner. He highlighted several pressing issues in the state, asserting that the government must be held accountable on public welfare matters. Thakur criticized the government for its failure to address key issues affecting the public, claiming that the government showed no concern for the people’s welfare.

Thakur emphasized that the tradition of holding a pre-session all-party meeting was followed, ensuring a harmonious atmosphere in the House. He stated that if the government prioritizes addressing the issues raised by the opposition, the session will proceed smoothly. However, he pointed out that the people of the state are suffering due to the government’s policies, with widespread discontent across various sections of society. Thakur also drew attention to the deteriorating conditions in healthcare and law and order, as well as the drug abuse epidemic devastating the youth.

On the subject of the budget session, Thakur stated that although the session traditionally starts with the Governor’s address and a subsequent discussion, followed by the presentation of the budget, the allotted time for the session was insufficient. He requested the extension of the session’s duration, noting that many important discussions would require more time to address the various issues in-depth.
