Kullu Literature Festival 2025 Begins with Discourse on Bhakti Movement

Kullu, March 8, 2025 – The Kullu Literature Festival 2025 commenced at Dev Sadan, Dhalpur, organized by Himtaru Prakashan Samiti in collaboration with the Language & Culture Department. The event was virtually inaugurated by Rakesh Kanwar, Secretary of the Language & Culture Department, who emphasized viewing the Bhakti Movement as a tradition rather than a movement.
The first session, chaired by Dr. Rekha Vashisth, focused on Sufi and Nirgun Bhakti poetry. Chief speaker Dr. Subhash Rai, Editor-in-Chief of Jan Sandev Times, discussed women poets of South India, Akka Mahadevi and Andal, while Dr. Sanju Paul presented on Kabir’s philosophy through the lens of art and color.
The festival also featured the release of the short story collection ‘Sapno Ka Transmission’ by Ishita R. Girish. Rakesh Kanwar highlighted the significance of reading Ajey’s book ‘Rohtang: Aar Paar’ in the festival’s context. The event aims to foster interaction between established and emerging writers.
