Koler Village Declared Model Solar Village under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

Nahan, Sept 5: Deputy Commissioner Sirmaur, Priyanka Verma, announced that Koler village in Paonta Sahib block has been selected as a Model Solar Village under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. The declaration came during a district-level committee meeting chaired by her, with participation from panchayat representatives via virtual mode.

DC Verma informed that Koler has achieved the highest solar power adoption in the district, with 33 grid-connected rooftop solar power plants installed at a cost of ₹61.05 lakh, generating 111.01 kW of electricity. As part of its recognition, Koler will receive ₹1 crore to further promote solar activities. The DC directed Himurja officials to prepare a detailed plan with the local panchayat to ensure maximum utilization of this fund.

Project Officer Om Prakash (Himurja) stated that 27 panchayats in Sirmaur were selected under the scheme. Of these, 14 panchayats have already initiated solar projects worth ₹1.26 crore, including 55 rooftop plants and 177 solar streetlights, together generating 202.345 kW of electricity.
