Kangra valley lashed by rains & snowfall on Dhauladhar mountain range

Dharamshala, Dec 30 – Kangra valley has been lashed by rains after a dry spell of more than two months and Dhauladhar mountain range overlooking the lush green Kàngra valley experienced snowfall dropping the temperature further.

Kangra valley was drenched since Thursday night following much-awaited rains. The temperature further dipped and the residents of the valley shivered. It was the worst experience for the school-going children to go to school despite the rain and shivering cold. Small children were seen carrying umbrellas amid cold and rain rushing to school as the government did not order the closure of the schools despite the biting cold.

McLeodganj, the seat of the Tibetan government in exile popularly known as Mini Lhasa, and Dal Lake near here experienced rains and cold temperatures Friday leaving life there out of gear.

Kangra valley was drenched since Thursday night and rains are continuing till the filing of this report leaving people in the valley in a lurch due to cold wave conditions.

Lots of tourists started trickling into the tourist destination of McLeodganj today to enjoy the welcoming of the New Year 2023. Some tourists were seen enjoying themselves at both the places Dharamshala and McLeodganj in the rain with an expectation that it may snow on New Year’s day. The temperature dipped at both places when it snowed heavily on the Dhauladhar mountain range and its foothills today which left life out of gear.

Kangra valley experienced rains since Thursday night adding to cold wave conditions. People were seen taking warmth from the bonfires at different places in different markets of Kangra town and its suburbs, however,most of the people preferred to remain indoors.
