“KALPANA: A Visual Symphony” – Mamta Dharma’s Artistic Journey Unveiled

The exhibition, scheduled from November 20th to 25th at the Tavern Hall, Gaiety Theatre, Shimla, promises to showcase Mamta Dharma’s diverse and captivating works. The inauguration will be graced by the esteemed presence of Padma Shri Awardee Shri Biman Bihari Das, an Indian sculptor and former Principal of the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata. The exhibition will be open daily from 11 AM to 7 PM.
Mamta’s artistic showcase will feature a variety of art forms, including her signature Metal Emboss Paintings, innovative Thread Paintings, enchanting Glass Paintings, and more. This exhibition is poised to be a celebration of Mamta’s unique vision and creative prowess. Her journey stands as a testament to the potency of passion and resilience. Born and raised in Shimla, Mamta’s pursuit of art began during her school and college days, despite lacking any familial artistic background. What sets her apart is her self-driven journey, devoid of formal training or professional courses, relying solely on her innate talent and passion for art.

The global pandemic marked a transformative phase for Mamta, prompting her to rediscover her love for art. In the midst of uncertainty, she picked up her brushes, marking the renaissance of her art. Mamta’s journey culminated in her first solo exhibition, showcasing her talent and dedication as a self-made artist. Her work gained widespread recognition, even earning her a spot in a documentary on DoorDarshan. Her artistic expertise spans Metal Emboss Painting, where she breathes life into metal sheets with intricate 3D designs; Thread Painting, a masterpiece of innovation resembling painted brush strokes with vibrant threads; and Glass Painting, showcasing versatility with vivid and expressive designs. Under the moniker “MMM Art,” Mamta’s vision has begun to reach many, symbolizing her journey and the canvas for her artistry.
The exhibition also features multiple sketches penned by her son Pradyun Dharma, highlighting how Mamta has efficiently passed on her creative prowess to the next generation. The exhibition is set to be a power-packed display of creativity, captivating artists and enthusiasts alike.
