The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT) Waknaghat took a significant step by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mitsubishi Electric India (MEI) Pvt. Ltd. based in Gurugram in April 2022. Originally, the MoU was set for a one-year duration until 2023, but it has now been extended for an additional 3 years until 2026.

Under this MoU, MEI has provided JUIT with Mitsubishi Factory Automation Student Learning Set-Ups, which include essential components like Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Inverter, Human Machine Interface (HMI), and Servo Motors. As part of this extended collaboration, MEI will further provide JUIT with an Industrial Robot Set-Up, enhancing the institution’s capabilities in the field of industrial automation and providing JUIT students with valuable knowledge and resources.

JUIT has actively organized various activities related to industrial automation, including training programs conducted by resource persons from MEI. These programs took place in both offline and online modes. The most recent online training session, focusing on the Mitsubishi FA Set-Up, was successfully conducted on October 31, 2023, from 3 PM to 5 PM. The training session was coordinated by Dr. Salman Raju Talluri and Dr. Pardeep Garg, faculty members of the ECE department, under the guidance of Prof. Rajiv Kumar, the Head of the ECE department.

The expert and resource person for the training session was Ms. Himanshi Bhardwaj, an employee of Mitsubishi Electric India (MEI) Pvt. Ltd. in Gurugram. The session was attended by students from various years and disciplines, including 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st-year students in the ECE/ECM discipline, 3rd-year students in the CSE discipline, as well as HOD, faculty members, and staff members of the ECE department.

Ms. Himanshi initiated the session with a presentation on the topic “iQ-R PLC,” covering the fundamentals of iQ-R. Subsequently, she conducted a hands-on session related to programming concepts of PLC using the Ladder-Logic language. All the students and faculty members actively participated and successfully completed the session.

At the conclusion of the session, Ms. Himanshi Bhardwaj engaged the final-year ECE students in a discussion on the significant aspects of the automation field in the industry, providing valuable insights and inspiration for their upcoming placement activities.
