JUIT Waknaghat, Enhances Cadet Skills Through Weapon Training and Map Reading Session
2 min readWaknaghat, February, 2024 – Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Solan, organized a comprehensive Weapon Training and Map Reading Session for its cadets on the 13th of February 2024. The session was conducted by the highly experienced PI staff, Havaldar Kuldeep Singh, and BHM Satish, imparting valuable insights into Weapon Training, Map Reading, and DST (Drill, Skill, and Tactics).
The primary objective of the training was to enhance individual awareness, elevate skills, and foster motivation among the cadets. Recognizing the significance of training in strengthening existing skills and acquiring new ones, the cadets at JUIT Waknaghat eagerly utilized this opportunity to learn from the seasoned PI Staff during their visit to the campus.
Program Highlights:
The day commenced with a wholesome breakfast for the cadets at the university’s mess. At 09:30 hours, all cadets assembled at the BBC (Base for Basic Cadets) and underwent the necessary preparations. Jai Lal Sir initiated the session at 10:00 AM, providing insights into the basics of Map Reading. At 10:45 AM, the esteemed PI Staff, welcomed under the supervision of SUO Hardik Sangal, commenced their training on Weapons and Map Reading.
In the first half of the session, the cadets received in-depth training on various weapons, including the .22mm Deluxe Rifle, .22mm MK-IV Rifle, and 7.62mm SLR. Each cadet had the opportunity to handle these weapons under the guidance of the experienced instructors.
Following the Weapon Training, a short break allowed the cadets to regroup. In the second half of the session, the focus shifted to compass usage and map reading techniques. The instructors provided hands-on guidance, ensuring that each cadet gained practical experience in these essential skills.
Towards the conclusion of the event, the cadets were introduced to DST (Drill, Skill, and Tactics), culminating in a drill exercise. The session concluded successfully at 3:35 PM, demonstrating effective time management.
The event proved highly successful, with each cadet leaving the BBC equipped with valuable knowledge about weapons, map reading, and DST. The active participation showcased the cadets’ eagerness to learn and contribute to the nation’s service. The organizers expressed their satisfaction with the enthusiasm and commitment displayed by the cadets during this significant training session.
