JUIT Empowers Women in Innovation and Entrepreneurship through FDP on Intellectual Property Rights

Waknaghat, Solan, March 20, 2024 – The Intellectual Property Rights Cell (IPR Cell JUIT), in collaboration with the National IP Awareness Mission (NIPAM) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), recently concluded a one-week Faculty Development Program (FDP) focused on Women in Innovation and Entrepreneur Development (WIED). Running from March 11 to March 15, 2024, the online event featured a series of lectures delivered by esteemed guests and faculty members.

The comprehensive program aimed to equip faculty members with the knowledge and skills necessary to empower women innovators and entrepreneurs. Notable speakers at the FDP included Mr. Govind Sharma, Ex-Chief of the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC); Dr. Vivek Kumar Malik, Coordinator of the IPR Cell at IIT Roorkee; Dr. Mini Giri from IIT Roorkee; Dr. G. Geetha, Women Scientist under WOSC Kiran IPR (DST) and Deputy Director at the Centre for Intellectual Property Rights, Anna University; Dr. Lakshmi, Examiner of Patents and Designs at the Patent Office, Delhi; and Ms. Monika, Patent Attorney at Aksh IP Associates.

The successful completion of this program underscores the commitment of the JUIT IPR Cell and IIC to empower faculty members to serve as valuable resources for women innovators and entrepreneurs. Participants gained insights into Intellectual Property Rights and the pivotal role of women in driving innovation and technological advancements. By promoting the growth of women in the field of innovation and technology, this initiative aims to foster a vibrant innovation ecosystem where women can thrive.

Dr. Shruti Jain, Dr. Aman Sharma, Dr. Saurabh Rawat, along with students of the IPR Cell, played pivotal roles in coordinating the event, ensuring its success and impact. This FDP marks a significant step towards creating an inclusive and supportive environment for women in the realm of innovation and entrepreneurship at JUIT.
