Waknaghat, October 12, 2025:
In a major step toward strengthening mental health support on campus, Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT) organized a Mental Health Awareness Training Programme for its teaching and non-teaching staff. The initiative aligns with the Supreme Court’s directive (SLP (Crl.) No. 6378/2024) issued on July 25, 2025, mandating regular mental health training across educational institutions.
The session, conducted by Ms. Shraddha Puri, Clinical Psychologist from MMU, Kumarhatti, Solan, aimed at sensitizing faculty and staff to recognize signs of psychological distress among students and respond appropriately. Through interactive discussions and practical insights, participants were trained to create a more empathetic and supportive academic atmosphere.
The university’s leadership—Prof. Rajendra Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor; Prof. Ashok Gupta, Dean (Academic); Brig. R.K. Sharma, SM (Retd.), Registrar and Dean (Students); and Prof. Shruti Jain, Associate Dean (Innovation)—attended the program, reflecting JUIT’s strong institutional commitment to holistic education.
The event was coordinated by Prof. Amit Srivastava, Director, Student Services Centre (SCC), and Dr. Ranjith Kallyani, Nodal Officer, SCC. The training reinforced JUIT’s resolve to promote mental health awareness, early intervention, and a compassionate campus culture.
