Hosts District-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2025
Waknaghat, March 18, 2025 – Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, proudly hosted the district-level round of Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2025, serving as the Nodal Center for Shimla and Kinnaur districts. This prestigious event, initiated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, aims to cultivate leadership, policy awareness, and democratic engagement among youth.
JUIT’s selection as the Nodal Center highlights its academic excellence and commitment to fostering intellectual discourse. The program, designed for individuals aged 18 to 25, follows a four-stage selection process, beginning with a one-minute video submission on the My Bharat Portal. After rigorous screening, 150 participants from Shimla and Kinnaur were shortlisted for the district-level competition at JUIT.
The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of esteemed university officials, faculty, and jury members who commended JUIT’s proactive role in hosting such nation-building initiatives. The distinguished jury panel featured:
- Dr. Sandhya Sharma, Head, Department of English, Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Shimla
- Ms. Deepika Sharma, Editor, Asar News
- Dr. Puneet Bhushan, Assistant Professor, HPU Business School, Shimla
- Ms. Sheetal Sharma Vyas, Advocate, High Court of Shimla
- Dr. Neena Jindal, Assistant Professor, JUIT, Waknaghat
The event’s highlight was an insightful debate on “One Nation, One Election,” where over 50 participants showcased their analytical and oratory skills, reinforcing the university’s role in fostering intellectual growth and democratic awareness.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Nishant Jain, NSS Programme Coordinator at JUIT, who emphasized the university’s dedication to nurturing young visionaries and thought leaders.
JUIT continues to emerge as a hub for policy discussions, leadership training, and youth empowerment, making it a preferred venue for national-level academic and intellectual forums.
