JUIT Conducts Joint Workshop on Molecular and Plant Tissue Culture at RKMV, Shimla

The Joint Workshop on Molecular and Plant Tissue Culture Techniques, held in collaboration with Jaypee University at RKMV, Shimla on February 20, 2024, was a significant event organized by the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics at JUIT. The workshop catered to 82 students pursuing BSc in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Zoology, and Botany.
Under the coordination of Dr. Hemant Sood (Associate Professor, BT&BI) and Ms. Kartik S M Chauhan, HoD Zoology (Associate Professor), the inaugural session, skillfully conducted by Ms. Kartik and her team of dedicated students, set the tone for the workshop. Dr. Anurita Saxena, Principal RKMV, energized the participants and expressed gratitude to VC Prof RK Sharma and HoD Prof Sudhir Kumar for fostering collaborations between the two institutes since 2022.
Workshop sessions followed the schedule, featuring Dr. Hemant Sood’s session on Plant Tissue Culture, where techniques were demonstrated, and short notes were provided. Dr. Jitenderaa Vashistt, Associate Professor (BT&BI), conducted a detailed session on Molecular Techniques.
The successful conclusion of the workshop included valuable feedback from participants. Mr. Bhagwati Charan, Associate Professor, Botany, extended gratitude to the organizers, JUIT administration, staff, research scholars, faculty members, and students for their unwavering support. Dr. Hemant Sood expressed thanks to the authorities of both institutes, highlighting the collaborative spirit and commending the dedication of the RKMV student team.
It’s noteworthy that JUIT, in celebration of National Science Day, organizes various activities in collaboration with HIMCOSTE, Government of Himachal Pradesh, with support from DST GoI.
