JUIT: Australian Environmental Sustainability Delegation Explores Collaborative Ventures

Solan, Dec 13: Dr. Kamaljit Kaur Sangha, representing Charles Darwin University, Australia, led a delegation of seven students pursuing Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Environmental Sustainability to Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT). The visit aimed at fostering social, cultural, and academic exchange between Australian and JUIT students and faculty.

Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajendra Kumar Sharma and Registrar Maj. Gen. Rakesh Bassi (Retd.) warmly welcomed the Australian contingent. During their visit, the team explored JUIT’s campus and laboratories in the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics.

Dr. Kamaljit Kaur Sangha shared insights into environmental sustainability and economics, emphasizing the need for all stakeholders to account for the true cost of natural resources. She advocated for distributing profits to grassroots workers. The Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, led by Prof. Sudhir Kumar and coordinators Dr. Jitendraa Vashistt and Dr. Tyson, facilitated the delegation’s visit, showcasing the department’s state-of-the-art facilities.

Expressing appreciation for the lab equipment and facilities, the Australian contingent lauded JUIT’s commitment to academic excellence. Beyond academic pursuits, the delegation immersed themselves in the natural beauty of Himachal Pradesh and enjoyed a scenic toy train ride from Solan to Shogi.

The successful visit concluded with plans for future collaborations and mutual exchanges, focusing on environmental sustainability and climate change initiatives. This marks a significant step toward global cooperation in addressing pressing environmental challenges.
