Shimla, July 22, 2025 — Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur launched a scathing attack on the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led state government, calling the recently introduced “Job Trainee Scheme” a cruel joke on Himachal’s youth. In a press release, he stated that the government came to power promising 5 lakh jobs but is now focused on cutting jobs and sabotaging employment avenues.
Thakur accused the government of dismantling job-providing institutions and creating policies that are anti-youth, anti-development, and anti-Himachal. He criticized the scrapping of vacant posts, non-functional recruitment commissions, and altering regularization norms to replace them with the controversial trainee model. He demanded immediate rollback of the scheme and urged the CM to treat the youth with the same concern as his close allies.
