In a remarkable achievement, Jasmeet Kaur, an MSc Biotechnology alumna from Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, has been awarded the prestigious Lawrence J. Mazlack Fellowship in the USA. Selected through the Foreign Students’ Exchange Program of JUIT, Jasmeet is currently a Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Chemistry, Biology, and Health Sciences at SD Mines, South Dakota, USA.
Under the mentorship of Prof. Rajesh Sani, Jasmeet’s exceptional academic performance and research potential were recognized through this fellowship, which is valued at $3,000. The Lawrence J. Mazlack Fellowship is a distinguished honor, awarded to one deserving recipient within each PhD program, selected by program heads for their academic excellence and research capabilities. The fellowship also requires recipients to secure a matching full-time assistantship, showcasing a dedication to both theoretical and practical applications in their field.

Jasmeet is currently engaged in the NSF EPSCoR RII-T2 BioWRAP project, focusing on the synthesis and characterization of plant growth-promoting signaling molecules. Her research aims to revolutionize agricultural practices by promoting the proliferation of nitrogen-fixing microbiota, reducing the dependency on synthetic nitrogen fertilizers.
