Jayaram Thakur to Become “Leader of Defeat”: Sanjay Awasthi
2 min readShimla, 8 July:
The BJP is poised for a severe loss in the upcoming July 10 by-elections for three legislative seats, as the public has overwhelmingly decided to support the Congress party. Following these defeats, Leader of the Opposition Jayaram Thakur will earn the moniker “Leader of Defeat,” stated Sanjay Awasthi, Acting President of the Congress Party in Himachal Pradesh.
Awasthi highlighted that Jayaram Thakur, who was previously known for plunging the state into debt during his tenure as Chief Minister, will now be recognized for his electoral hat-trick of losses. He accused Thakur and the BJP of conspiring to topple the Congress government, resulting in these imposed by-elections, and now, they must face the consequences.
Awasthi further pointed out that Thakur’s tenure left the state burdened with debt, and his attempts to undermine the popular mandate through financial power have led to these by-elections. The BJP’s tactics of resigning independent MLAs to incorporate them into their fold will now be met with a strong response from the voters of Dehra, Hamirpur, and Nalagarh.
Under the leadership of CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the state has seen a stable and strong government, which will be further reinforced with three more Congress victories on July 10. Awasthi praised the Sukhu administration for fulfilling promises and strengthening the state’s economy, contrasting it with the BJP’s conspiracies and propaganda.
With these anticipated victories, the number of Congress MLAs will rise from 38 to 41, increasing the BJP’s woes. Awasthi concluded that the BJP’s dreams of returning to power are as fantastical as Mungeeri Lal’s dreams, destined never to be realized.
