Mandi, July 12 – Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur visited the rain and landslide-affected areas of Karsog today. He met with affected families, offered condolences, and assessed the extent of damage in villages like Sanarli, Sharkol Nala, Kutti, and Purana Bazaar. Expressing deep concern over the devastation, Thakur urged Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to personally visit Karsog to understand the ground reality and draft a comprehensive relief plan.
Thakur emphasized that immediate relief plays a vital role not just in support, but in boosting the morale of disaster victims. He stated that despite the government’s ongoing efforts, the pace and scale of relief work must be accelerated.
He also pointed out the critical damage to homes, orchards, crops, and roads in his own constituency Seraj, explaining the delay in visiting Karsog. Thakur lauded the efforts of BJP workers and donors across India who have already delivered essential items like food, clothes, utensils, and bedding to the affected. He encouraged direct aid for rehabilitation, highlighting the need for safe housing before the onset of winter in high-altitude areas.
Thakur concluded by expressing gratitude to all who contributed and urged continued support for long-term recovery. He was accompanied by senior BJP leaders including Bihari Lal, Inder Singh Gandhi, Deep Raj, and others.
