During his visit to Sainj, he met the families affected by the Samej tragedy, offering them comfort and support. Thakur visited the villages of Shat, Baladhi, and Chauhki, where he assessed the disaster relief efforts and met families affected by the Malana dam breach. He noted that the breach led to the loss of the vegetable market building in Shat and the destruction of eight houses in Baladhi, impacting hundreds of families and causing significant damage to fertile land and orchards.
Thakur emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party stands with every disaster-affected family. He assured that the Prime Minister has promised extensive assistance for the state. He also directed party workers, office bearers, and representatives to assist disaster victims in every possible way.
During his visit to Sainj and Bhuntar, Thakur observed the damage caused by the release of water from power projects without warning, which had previously caused significant destruction in Sainj market. He pledged to raise this issue with the central government to find a solution and to discuss the recurring damage in Sainj market with the Chief Minister and in the state assembly, suggesting the possibility of relocating the market to a safer location.
Thakur noted that despite limited rainfall, the damage has been extensive, with significant losses of life and property. He urged vigilance as the monsoon season continues and assured that relief efforts are in full swing with the support of NDRF, army personnel, and state rescue teams. Thakur called for the prompt rehabilitation of affected families and suggested the use of helicopters to address any potential ration shortages due to damaged roads.
