Mandi, April 3, 2025 – Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur criticized the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Himachal Pradesh government, accusing it of shutting down institutions and stalling development. Speaking at a public meeting in Thachi, Saraj Assembly constituency, he alleged that the government has failed to fulfill its guarantees and is misleading the public.
Thakur defended welfare schemes like Ayushman, Sahara, Shagun, Kanyadan, Ujjwala, and pension programs, stating that these are essential public services, not “freebies.” He condemned the government for its alleged focus on minor issues while neglecting crucial infrastructure like schools and hospitals.
Accusing the government of favoritism, Thakur claimed that while extensions are being granted to select officials, regularization of contract employees has been delayed. He highlighted that the BJP government had reduced the contract period to two years, but the current administration has extended it back to three years.
Jairam Thakur also visited Bali Chowki and Guraan village, offering condolences to the family of Anjana Thakur on her demise.
