Jairam Thakur Slams Sukhu Govt for Excluding Elderly from Himcare Scheme, Calls it Inhumane

1 min read

Mandi, August 5:
Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has strongly criticized the Himachal Pradesh government’s decision to exclude citizens above 70 years from the Himcare health scheme, terming it an “inhumane and insensitive” move. He alleged that the Sukhu-led Congress government is continuously betraying women, youth, and now the elderly with its anti-people policies.

Thakur pointed out that while the Central Government provides Ayushman Bharat benefits to all elderly citizens without conditions, the state government is irresponsibly cancelling Himcare cards without ensuring Ayushman enrollment. He also accused the state of failing to utilize Central funds meant for life-saving injections for heart attack and brain stroke patients, resulting in funds being returned unused.

Additionally, BJP will hold a protest today in Mandi against FIRs lodged on disaster-affected people in Seraj, where Jai Ram Thakur, State BJP President Rajeev Bindal, and In-charge Srikant Sharma will be present.
