Jairam Thakur Slams Sukhu Government Over Rural Employment Reforms and Pending Works in Himachal

1 min read

Shimla Feb 02 2026: Jai Ram Thakur, former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition, has accused Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of blaming the Centre to hide his government’s failures. In a press statement issued from Shimla, Thakur said fulfilling election guarantees is the responsibility of the state government, not the Centre.

He highlighted the Centre’s new rural employment mission replacing MGNREGA, with enhanced work days, faster wage payments, and a massive budget allocation exceeding ₹1 lakh crore including pending liabilities. Thakur alleged that over 1.71 lakh development works remain incomplete in Himachal due to poor governance, and that the state government is even failing to provide its 10% share in nearly 191 centrally sponsored schemes, causing losses to the people.
