Shimla, July 25, 2025 – Leader of Opposition and former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur criticized the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led state government for misleading claims of providing “world-class” healthcare, stating that ground realities reflect a deteriorating health system that is pushing people into distress.
Thakur accused the government of ignoring repeated warnings from the opposition and failing to accept shortcomings in the healthcare infrastructure. “While the government boasts of transformation, the system is on ‘critical level’ and people are suffering,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jai Ram Thakur, accompanied by BJP MPs, state party president, and MLAs from disaster-hit areas, met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Delhi to seek enhanced financial assistance for reconstruction and relief in Himachal Pradesh. A memorandum detailing losses — including over ₹1200 crore in damages, 50+ deaths, destruction of 700+ homes, and loss of livestock — was submitted.
Earlier, the delegation had met Union Ministers Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, and CR Paatil to request maximum support for the state’s recovery.
