Jairam Thakur Questions Implementation of Budget Announcements by State Government

1 min read

Shimla, March 16: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur has alleged that several budget announcements made by the state government over the past three years remain unimplemented.

In a statement issued from Shimla, Thakur said that many promises made in the government’s first budget are yet to materialize on the ground. He questioned the state leadership over the status of these announcements and asked where the allocated funds had been spent.

The Leader of Opposition claimed that several proposals announced in successive budgets, including subsidies for electric scooters for meritorious students, green corridor projects, and the establishment of model health institutions in every assembly constituency, have not progressed beyond paper.

He also raised concerns about announcements related to PET scan facilities in districts such as Chamba, Nahan, and Hamirpur, stating that these projects have yet to be implemented.

Thakur noted that the government presented budgets worth over ₹2.2 lakh crore in three years while also taking loans exceeding ₹45,000 crore. He argued that despite such financial allocations, many schemes announced during budget sessions have not been initiated.

He urged the government to clarify the status of previous budget announcements before presenting the next budget in the state assembly.
