Shimla, October 12 —
Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, accusing it of deceiving the people of Himachal Pradesh with false guarantees. As senior Congress leaders arrive in the state, Thakur urged them to seek accountability from the Sukhu-led government on its unfulfilled promises over the past three years.
He questioned the government on issues such as permanent jobs for youth, Rajiv Gandhi Start-Up Scheme benefits, women’s honor allowance, milk procurement at ₹100 per litre, and the declining apple prices. He also criticized the state for failing to provide timely relief to disaster victims, delaying local body elections, and not paying pensioners’ dues.
Thakur reminded that during the BJP regime, several welfare schemes such as Himcare, Sahara Yojana, Grihini Suvidha Yojana, and free electricity were implemented without making hollow promises. He concluded that good governance requires sincerity, not fake guarantees.
