Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur criticized the Himachal Pradesh government for celebrating its three-year tenure while the state continues to struggle with disaster-related challenges. He said even Congress leaders seem unsure about what achievements are worth celebrating.

Thakur pointed out that despite the Disaster Act being in force and Panchayat elections delayed, the government is busy preparing for celebrations. He alleged that payments above ₹10,000 are stuck in treasuries, salaries and pensions are delayed, medical reimbursements for the elderly are pending, roads are in poor condition, and over 15,000 people have lost their jobs.

He challenged the Congress leadership to name even one welfare scheme from their tenure that is widely recognized or has benefitted thousands. In contrast, he highlighted schemes from the previous BJP government—HIMCARE, Sahara, Swavalamban, Grihini Suvidha, Shagun, and Jan Manch—which he said were discontinued by the present government.

Thakur further added that if the Congress has any sense of responsibility, it should withdraw the celebration decision. He also claimed that recent political developments in Bihar indicate a grim future for Congress in Himachal, suggesting the party “won’t even be visible in the upcoming Assembly elections.”
