Mandi, July 30, 2025: Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur visited the disaster-hit areas of Thunag and Janjehli in Saraj Assembly constituency to review the situation and extend support. During his visit, he distributed financial assistance of ₹25,000 each to 53 affected families from 11 villages whose homes were completely destroyed in the recent calamity.
He expressed gratitude to generous donors helping in relief efforts and motivated the victims not to lose hope. “With courage and determination, we will rebuild everything,” he told the residents.
Thakur also honored the volunteers of Shiv Sharan Shri Ram Langar Committee, Ghumarwin, for their selfless service. The committee had been serving langar (community meals) to affected people since June 5, feeding nearly 50,000 individuals over 25 days.
Criticizing the state government, Thakur pointed out slow response in relief and rehabilitation. He urged the government to expedite road restoration and ensure timely market access for perishable horticulture and agricultural produce.
