Mandi, 14 July 2025:
Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, accompanied by MP Anurag Thakur, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sikander Kumar, MLA Inder Singh Gandhi, BJP General Secretary Bihari Lal, and spokesperson Ajay Rana, visited disaster-affected areas in Mandi district today. The team distributed relief materials and met with affected families to understand the scale of destruction.
During the visit, Anurag Thakur also provided school bags, books, and stationery kits to children in government and private schools in Bagsyad and Thunag who were impacted by the floods.
Jairam Thakur urged the government to waive loans taken under the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme, stating that agriculture, horticulture, and floriculture infrastructure has been completely destroyed—leaving thousands burdened with debt. He stressed that homes deemed structurally unsafe should be considered as fully damaged and compensated accordingly.
Calling for immediate and transparent publication of official damage data, Jairam Thakur said credible lists would help philanthropists directly support affected families. He also appealed to parents to ensure children’s safety while attending school and urged students to follow elders’ instructions and avoid dangerous routes.
He expressed gratitude to Anurag Thakur, Sikander Kumar, and all those contributing towards the relief and rehabilitation efforts across Himachal Pradesh.
