Jairam Thakur Demands Action on Marketing Board Scandal

1 min read

Shimla:
Leader of the Opposition, Jairam Thakur, criticized the Sukhu government for canceling the Marketing Board’s digitization tender, alleging it was an attempt to cover up a scandal. Thakur stated that the cancellation confirms the occurrence of malpractice, but accused the government of retreating only due to opposition pressure. He called on the Chief Minister to identify and take action against those responsible for the corruption.

Thakur pointed out that the tender was initially awarded despite financial irregularities and rule violations, benefiting certain individuals. He questioned why the tender was canceled under the pretext of additional GST demands, despite these demands being accepted the day after the tender was awarded. Thakur demanded transparency from the Chief Minister regarding the involvement and protection of corrupt individuals.

Thakur also accused the Sukhu government of altering rules to favor a preferred firm in a ₹90 crore tender for school children’s water bottles. He claimed that after the opposition raised questions, the government postponed the project but did not take any substantial action. Thakur urged the government to disclose the truth behind the changes in tender conditions and to take strict action against those involved. He warned that merely canceling tenders and projects would not suffice, and without strict action, the Chief Minister’s integrity would be questioned
