Jairam Thakur Criticizes Sukhu Government Over Rising Debt and Governance Issues

Shimla, March 11, 2025 – Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition, Jairam Thakur, accused the Sukhu-led government of pushing Himachal Pradesh into financial distress, stating that one-third of the state’s total debt has been incurred in just two years. He criticized the government for widespread mismanagement, corruption, and failing to fulfill electoral guarantees. Thakur alleged that essential welfare schemes have been discontinued or defunded, and that the government is misleading the public about its achievements. He also claimed that despite receiving ₹2,872 crore in central assistance, the state government has not acknowledged the support.
