Jairam Thakur Criticizes Government Over School Closures and Office Expenditure
1 min readShimla: Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition, Jairam Thakur, criticized the government for its decision to close schools while spending crores on offices for ministers. Thakur highlighted that while the government is willing to spend lavishly on office renovations and unconstitutional appointments of CPS (Chief Parliamentary Secretaries), it is neglecting the basic right to education. He questioned the government’s decision to shut down schools due to low enrollment, urging it to investigate the reasons behind the declining student numbers rather than closing institutions indiscriminately.
Thakur further condemned the government’s failure to consider the impact of these closures on rural populations, particularly in regions like Lahaul. He emphasized that the government should focus on making education accessible to all, rather than prioritizing expenditure on ministerial comforts.
